Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise is the new name for Office 365 ProPlus and is a collection of services that includes access to Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint. It comes with access to the latest features, security patches, and fixes. Launch an Office for Mac app and start the activation process. Click the Launchpad icon in the Dock to display all of your apps. Click the Microsoft Word icon in the Launchpad. The What's New window opens automatically when you launch Word. Office Home & Student is a bundle containing three programs and 60 days of Microsoft support. It contains Microsoft Word for creating documents, Excel for creating spreadsheets and graphs, and PowerPoint for creating presentations. The apps are all the 2019 version and won’t receive any future updates.

Unlike with other Microsoft Office bundles, there’s no monthly or yearly subscription to pay for as these applications will no longer receive updates. Thanks to this, you’ll pay one fee for the lifetime access to all three applications on one device.

The software provided uses some of the best text document and spreadsheet creation features available. One such example is when you use the spell checker to correct any spelling errors.

The applications available have one major downfall if you work on more than one device such as a work computer and your Macbook. There is no cloud storage available and sharing files will require an additional program or a USB stick.

Microsoft has put out the free download of Office 2016 for Mac public preview, without any Office 365 subscription required. The new software includes support for Retina displays, iCloud syncing, and looks like the versions of Office currently available on Windows and mobile.

Step 1: Download the Install

Once you download the 2.6GB file to your downloads folder, click on the Office Preview Package to get started. You will be guided through the necessary steps to install this software.

Tip: I had to upgrade my OS X because you can't install Office for Mac with any version of OS X below 10.10. To see my tutorial on how to upgrade your OS X go here.

I also had some internet interruptions on my initial download to my downloads folder and had a hard time opening the package because it did not download the full 2.6GB. Make sure that you fully downloaded the package.

Step 2: Read and Agree to Licensing Agreement

The software license agreement comes in many languages, this one in English. Once you read the agreement, you will have scrolled to the bottom. Click continue to agree.

Step 3: Agree to the License Agreement to Begin Installation

You will then be prompted to agree. Once you do you will select what users of your computer will have access to the software to select the destination for install. You will need 5.62GB of free space to install. Select and click continue.

Step 4: Install Office for Mac

I want all users of my computer to be able to access Office and made sure to have the available space. Now I am ready to install. I click install. I had to wait a few moments for the installation to complete. Then I was notified that the installation was successful. And my installation is complete.

University of Georgia students, faculty and staff have free access to download and install Office 365 ProPlus software through their online UGAMail account, which is powered by Office 365.

Students and employees may download and install the latest, full version of Office 365 ProPlus software on up to ten of their personal devices (computers, tablets or phones) with Windows or Apple operating systems.

This service was previously available only to students through the Student Advantage program. It is now available to all UGA faculty and staff, according to the University's existing license with Microsoft. The program is not available to retirees.

To install Office 365 ProPlus on desktops, individuals should log in to their web-based UGAMail account (ugamail.uga.edu). If you are off-campus, you will need ArchPass to complete the log-in process.

To install Office 365 ProPlus on mobile devices, go to the App Store or Google Play to find the applications and enter your UGAMail account information.

Yes, this is the latest version of Office 365 ProPlus with complete functionality. You can install Office 365 ProPlus directly to your device without having to connect to the Internet for access. However, students must connect to the Internet at least once every 30 days to for an automatic check of their license eligibility.

How long does a UGA student have access to Office 365 ProPlus?

UGA students have access to their Office 365 ProPlus license while they remain eligible to enroll in classes, which is currently about 12 months after they leave the University. After that, students will have read-only access to their Microsoft files. They may decide to purchase the Office 365 ProPlus on their own. Students must login to the Internet once at least every 30 days for an automatic check of their license eligibility.

How long does a UGA employee have access to Office 365 ProPlus?

After an employee leaves the University, they will no longer have full functionality of their Office ProPlus software within 30 days of their departure. They may decide to purchase Office ProPlus on their own.

I recently purchased Microsoft Office for my personal use. Can I be reimbursed?

No. You purchased a consumer product. Office 365 ProPlus is available through UGA’s existing license with Microsoft.

Can I install this software on my University-issued device?

No. This program only applies to personal devices for students and employees, and not to University-owned devices. UGA has a separate agreement with Microsoft for software installation on University-owned devices.
